Silenis was named by Neckaja (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 648].

It was assigned to Bairdiocypridinae by Kozur (1985); to Metacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Longisculidae by Abushik and Evdokimova (2016), Song et al. (2022).
