Taxonomy
Calosargus (Pterosargus) thanasymus was named by Mostovski (1997). Its type specimen is PIN 2997/995, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karatau-Mikhailovka (PIN collection 2997), which is in a Kimmeridgian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan.

It was recombined as Calosargus thanasymus by Grimaldi and Barden (2016).
