Taxonomy
Palaeorehniinae was named by Zeuner (1937). Its type is Palaeorehnia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Prophalangopsinae by Kevan and Wighton (1983); it was reranked as the family Palaeorehniidae by Archibald et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Gryllacrididae by Zeuner (1937), Zeuner (1939), Zeuner (1941); and to Ensifera by Archibald et al. (2022).
