Hadrocephalus anglicus was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lower Lias (Brodie coll), which is in a Rhaetian/Hettangian marine shale/limestone in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Hadrocephalus.
