Limaysaurinae was named by Whitlock (2011). It was considered monophyletic by Whitlock (2011).
It was assigned to Rebbachisauridae by Whitlock (2011), Carballido et al. (2012), Mannion et al. (2012), Ibiricu et al. (2015) and Wilson and Allain (2015); to Khebbashia by Fanti et al. (2015) and Mannion et al. (2019); and to Rebbachisaurinae by Lerzo et al. (2024).

Ibiricu et al. 2015 | Limaysaurinae is supported by the following synapomorphies: accessory lamina connecting postzygodiapophyseal and spinoprezygapophyseal laminae in posterior cervical vertebrae (an ambiguous synapomorphy); contact of spinoprezygapophyseal and spinopostzygapophyseal laminae forming robust lateral lamina on lateral aspect of anterior caudal neural spines; and length of scapular acromion at least half of total scapular length (ambiguous synapomorphy). |
