Clisiophyllum wichmanni was named by Rothpletz (1892). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ajer Mati (Wichmann collection), which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate sandstone in Indonesia.
It was recombined as Carcinophyllum wichmanni by Gerth (1922).
