Taxonomy
Thylacinus rostralis was named by De Vis (1894). Its type specimen is Cat. No. 12,027, a maxilla (right maxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Spoil heap from Wellington Caves, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.
