Taxonomy
Maximucinus muirheadae was named by Wroe (2001). Its type specimen is QM F30331, a set of teeth (right upper M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ringtail Site, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian fluvial horizon in Australia.
