Taxonomy
Litokoala thurmerae was named by Pledge (2010). Its type specimen is SAM P30159, a tooth (right upper molar, RM3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mammalon Hill, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial claystone in the Etadunna Formation of Australia.
