Taxonomy
Procoptodon mccoyi was named by Turnbull et al. (1992). Its type specimen is NMV P23271 / P23272, a mandible (left and right adult dentaries), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Limburner's Point (Geelong), which is in a Pleistocene/Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.
