Taxonomy
Chione costaricensis was named by Olsson (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hill No. 3, Banana River [Rio Banano Fm], which is in a Piacenzian marine siliciclastic in the Rio Banano Formation of Costa Rica.
