Latonia gigantea

Taxonomy
Latonia gigantea was named by Lartet (1851) [but not as a species of the genus Latonia]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Rana gigantea by Lartet (1851).

Synonyms
  • Latonia feifari was named by Hodrová (1987). It is not extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Latonia gigantea by Böhme (2010).
  • Rana batthyanyi was named by Bolkay (1913). Its type specimen is MNH Budapest (no catalogue number given), a set of postcrania (fragments of maxilla and ilia (7)), and it is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Latonia gigantea by Sanchiz (1998).
  • Rana sansaniensis was named by Lartet (1851) ["A right maxillary fragment was found in the old Lartet collection labelled as '7. Rana sansaniensis,' which might perhaps be considered the holotype" [Sanchiz, 1998:124]]. Its type specimen is MNHN (presumably lost) and is a 3D body fossil.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Latonia gigantea by Sanchiz (1998).
