Foveotricolpites perforatus was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-II-97 S.G.N. (Cat.-473), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.

T. Van der Hammen and C. Garcia de Mutis 1966 | Tricolpate, tectum perforate. Exine, except the perforations of the tectum, psilate. Columellae very big. The perforations of the tectum are very large in the polar area (up to 5.5 μ diameter), and much smaller towards the equator (±0.5 μ). Colpi relatively short, and polar are relatively large. Thickness of the exine ±3 μ, ektexine ±1.5 μ. Subspheroidal shape. Size ±45-55 μ. Has been found in the Zones A and B of the Paleocene. |
