Foveotricolpites perforatus was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-II-97 S.G.N. (Cat.-473), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.

T. Van der Hammen and C. Garcia de Mutis 1966Tricolpate, tectum perforate. Exine, except the perforations of the tectum, psilate. Columellae very big. The perforations of the tectum are very large in the polar area (up to 5.5 μ diameter), and much smaller towards the equator (±0.5 μ). Colpi relatively short, and polar are relatively large. Thickness of the exine ±3 μ, ektexine ±1.5 μ. Subspheroidal shape. Size ±45-55 μ. Has been found in the Zones A and B of the Paleocene.
