Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
S. K. Srivastava 1984Pollen pentacolpate, radiosymmetric with a body and five equatorial elaters; body ellipsoidal, prolate, polar areas somewhat flatly rounded, with five equatorial elaters and five colpi. Elaters five, long, bases broad, tapering towards apices, apices blunt and rounded; elaters are solid and made of sexine only. Colpi long, gaping, covered with the colpi-membrane which is an extension of the outer layer of the exine, each colpus situated between two elaters or at the base of each elater. Exine thin (1pm thick), compressed, pertectate, thickens (1.2 pm) in the areas where elaters arise, nexine very thin, more or less smooth, at x 5000, slight undulations visible, sexine two-layered, outer layer thin, thickens at the site of elaters, extends on colpi as a membrane; inner layer baculate, bacules short, reduced to granulose shape and size, height c. 0.4 pm, width c. 0.2 pm, larger in elater-bearing areas, absent in colpus-areas. Tectum in lower magnifications smooth, at x 3000 to x 5000 magnification finely punctate, randomly in certain areas, punctae diameter about 0.2 pm, exine surface on elaters smooth, except in corroded areas. Supratectal processes none.
