Flustra was named by Linnaeus (1761) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Flustridae.

It was assigned to Flustridae by Bassler (1953); and to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms
  • Eschara was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Flustra by Gordon (2012).
