Nothofagidites acromegacanthus was named by Menendez and Caccavari (1975) [Botanical affinity: Fagaceae (Nothofagus (tipo brassii))]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BAPB Prep. pal. N° 500, a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts.
