Taxonomy
Protempis minuta was named by Ren (1998). Its type specimen is GMCB LB97021, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Near Chaomidian Village (GMC Beijing coll), which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
