Taxonomy
Lamia was named by Fabricius (1775). It is extant. It is the type genus of Lamiinae, Lamiini.

It was assigned to Eleuterata by Fabricius (1775); to Coleoptera by Latreille (1796); to Cerambicini by Latreille (1802); to Lamiinae by Zang (1905); to Lamnidae by Jordan (1963); and to Lamiini by Bouchard et al. (2011) and Souza et al. (2020).
