Taxonomy
Palaeoleptoneta was named by Wunderlich (2012). Its type is Palaeoleptoneta calcar. It is the type genus of Palaeoleptonetinae.

It was assigned to Leptonetidae by Dunlop et al. (2013); and to Palaeoleptonetinae by Wunderlich (2015).
