Mesuropetala muensteri
Taxonomy
Aeschna muensteri was named by Germar (1839). Its type specimen is BSP AS VII 794, an exoskeleton (Complete body), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Solnhofen (BSPGM Munich coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Cordulegaster muensteri by Hagen (1848) and Hagen (1850); it was recombined as Uropetala muensteri by Kirby (1890); it was synonymized subjectively with Stenophlebia latreillei by Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Morbaeschna muensteri by Needham (1907) and Nel et al. (1994); it was recombined as Mesuropetala muensteri by Bechly et al. (2001).
