Taxonomy
Aeshna antiqua was named by Vander Linden (1827). It is an impression. Its type locality is Solnhofen (Vander Maelen collection), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Aeschna antiqua by Hagen (1850) and Hagen (1862); it was recombined as Uropetala antiqua by Kirby (1890); it was recombined as Protolindenia antiqua by Handlirsch (1906).
