Taxonomy
Lithospermites glabrum was named by Berry (1929). It is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Belen, Punta PariƱas, which is in a Miocene/Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Peru. It is the type species of Lithospermites.

E. W. Berry 1929Nutles of variable size, with the following range of dimensios: Length 3.5 to 5.5 millimeters; longest diameter 2.5 to 4.0 millimeters; shortest diameter 2.5 to 3.5 millimeters. They are asymmetrically inflated, cuspidately pointed. Hilum large, basal eccentric. Surface smooth and crustaceous, no ridges or keel developed.
