Bryaxis glabrella was named by Schaufuss (1890). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Danziger Naturkundemuseum Helm collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Rybaxis glabrella by Alekseev (2013).
