Taxonomy
Cossonus hinojosai was named by Davis and Engel (2007). Its type specimen is USNM 505580, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (USNM Brodzinsky Lopez-Pena coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
