Taxonomy
Lunulites was named by Lamarck (1816) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sant-l T Plio Sepkoski's reference number: 626,636]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Lunulitidae.
It was assigned to Bryozoa by Holmes (1860); to Lunulitidae by Bassler (1953), Brown (1956), Brown (1958), Wienrich (1999); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calloporidae by Schmidt (2003).
