Taxonomy
Glyphonyx punctatus was named by Becker (1963). Its type specimen is UCMP 12873, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is UCMP B-4122, Simojovel region, which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
