Taxonomy
Microphorites extinctus was named by Hennig (1971). Its type specimen is SMNS 32/59, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Jezzine (SMNS collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon. It is the type species of Microphorites.
