Lagria was named by Fabricius (1775). It is extant. It is the type genus of Lagriidae, Lagriini, Lagriina.
It was assigned to Eleuterata by Fabricius (1775); to Coleoptera by Latreille (1796); to Helopii by Latreille (1802); to Lagriini by Kirejtshuk et al. (2008), Nabozhenko (2019); and to Lagriina by Bouchard et al. (2021), Nabozhenko and Tanaka (2023), Aalbu et al. (2023).
