Palorus was named by Mulsant (1854). It is extant. It is the type genus of Palorinae.
It was assigned to Palorinae by Matthews (2003), Kirejtshuk et al. (2008); and to Palorini by Alekseev and Nabozhenko (2017), Nabozhenko (2019), Bouchard et al. (2021).
