Eomastixia was named by Chandler (1926). It is not extant. Its type is Eomastixia bilocularis.

It was assigned to Mastixiaceae by Chandler (1925); to Mastixioideae by Chandler (1962), Chandler (1963) and Chandler (1964); and to Cornaceae by Andrews (1970).
