Taxonomy
Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) dominicanus was named by Zavortink and Poinar (2000). Its type specimen is Poinar D-7-6A, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
