Taxonomy
Eodolichotis maddeni was named by Walton (1990) [Etymology: Eos - dawn, early. In reference to its probable ancestral relation to prodolichotis and to its affinities with Eocardiidae]. Its type specimen is IGM-DU 86-401 , a mandible (rigth mandible with p4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.

A. H. Walton 1990 | Small dolichotinae. Biprismatic p4 in combination with fully biprismatic P4. Fossettes/fossettids absent. Anterior prism on p4 bears short, closely attached, quadrate anterior projection. Dentine tracts wide. Anterior and posterior flanks of prisms straight, relatively symetrical. Anteroventral margin of cohanae medial to anterior prism of M3 or posterior M2. Upper tooth rows convex labially, not straight as in Orthomyctera andina or Dolichotis. Tooth rows convergent. Anterior prism on upper morals project further labially than posterioir prisms. Mandible with distinct masseteric crest, lateral crest as in Eocardia. Mandible wide for its height. Size larger than Orthomyctera |
