Kiotomops lopezi

Kiotomops lopezi was named by Takai et al. (1991) [Holotype: IGM-KU 82C1, left upper M1 deposited in the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Geológico-Mineras(INGEOMINAS), Bogota-Colombia
Etymology: "Lopezi" after Dr. Alfonso Lopez Reina, the former director of INGEOMINAS]. Its type specimen is IGM-KU 82C1, a set of teeth (left upper M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Kiotomops.

M. Takai et al. 1991 | The vertical notch between the paracone and the metacone is very deep, and reaches to the labial edge of the crown. The trigonal pyramid-like stylar cusp B is prominently high and is connected with the paracone by the preparacrista. The mesostyle id posterior to the vertical notch. Between the stylar cusp B and the mesostyle is a deep labial groove touching the vertical notch. Neither basal cingulum nor hypocone is present. |
