Taxonomy
Leuciscus (Tarsichthys) was named by Troschel (1854). It is not extant.

It was reranked as Tarsichthys by Gaudant (1988), Böhme (2008) and Gaudant et al. (2018).

It was assigned to Leuciscus by Troschel (1854); to Tincinae by Böhme (2008); and to Cyprinidae by Gaudant (1988) and Gaudant et al. (2018).
