Izykhia tridentis was named by Aristov (2013). Its type specimen is PIN 5384/15, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Izykhskie Kopi (PIN collection 5384), which is in a Kasimovian/Gzhelian terrestrial horizon in the Belyi Yar Formation of the Russian Federation.
