Taxonomy
Theridium simplex was named by Koch and Berendt (1854). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Berendt collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Theridion simplex by Petrunkevitch (1942), Petrunkevitch (1958), Marusik and Penney (2004) and Dunlop et al. (2013).
