Taxonomy
Phidippus fasciatus was named by Koch and Berendt (1854). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Berendt collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
It was recombined as Gorgopsis fasciatus by Menge (1854); it was recombined as Gorgopsina fasciata by Wunderlich (2004), Dunlop et al. (2013).
