Teudis ligula was named by Wunderlich (1988). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Wunderlich collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
It was recombined as Lupettiana ligula by Penney (2000), Wunderlich (2004), Dunlop et al. (2013).
