Protolycosa cebennensis was named by Laurentiaux-Vieira and Laurentiaux (1963). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is La Grand'Combe, CĂ©vennes coal basin, which is in a Stephanian A terrestrial siliciclastic in France.
