Taxonomy
Rhyphus priscus was named by Brodie (1845). It is an impression. Its type locality is Dinton, Vale of Wardour, Middle Purbeck, which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Bria prisca by Giebel (1856), Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Anisopus priscus by Edwards (1928); it was recombined as Sylvicola prisca by Evenhuis (1994), Wojtoń et al. (2018).
