Taxonomy
Protocteniza britannica was named by Petrunkevitch (1949). Its type specimen is BMNH In. 22834 and is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Coseley, near Dudley (Neil coll), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay siliciclastic in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Protocteniza.
