Taxonomy
Praenucula abrupta was named by Kříž and Steinová (2009). Its type specimen is JK 14944, a valve (right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Temporary outcrop just northwest of Běchovice, which is in a Hirnantian transition zone/lower shoreface shale in the Kosov Formation of the Czech Republic.

part of the shell is larger. Anterior part of the dorsal margin is concave, posterior part straight. Anterior and posterior margins rounded, ventral margin convex. Prominent umbones are in the posterior half of the shell length or in central position, prosogyrate. Hinge taxodont. Posteriorly of umbo the teeth are small (7–10 in number), anteriorly slightly larger (7–8 in number). In posterior part of the shell the hinge line is straight. In anterior part of the shell the hinge line is concave. Inner surface with narrow growth bands and furrows developed. Anterior adductor muscle scar rounded. Other muscle scars unknown. Outer surface sculpture and the shell thickness are unknown.
