Telema moritzi was named by Wunderlich (2004). Its type specimen is F484/BB/AR/TEL/CJW and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Wunderlich collection), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
