Taxonomy
Perulestes fraileyi was named by Goin and Candela (2004) [n. sp. ]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa (LACM Loc. 6289), which is in a Rupelian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Yahuarango Formation of Peru.

F. J. Goin and A. M. Candela 2004Perulestes fraileyi sp. nov. differs from the type species of the genus by its larger size, and in having lower molars with hypoconulid better developed and more prominent posteriorly, and upper molars with metacone positioned more posteriorly with respect to StD.
