Kiruwamaq chisu
Taxonomy
Kiruwamaq chisu was named by Goin and Candela (2004) [n. sp.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa (LACM Loc. 6289), which is in a Rupelian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Yahuarango Formation of Peru. It is the type species of Kiruwamaq.

Candela 2004 | Kiruwamaq chisu differs from all other known South American ‘‘opossum- like’’ marsupials in the following combination of characters: very small size; reduced protocone; paracone much smaller, more labially oriented, and very close to the metacone; straight centrocrista; postmetacrista well developed; stylar shelf very wide only in its anterior half; StD very small, labially oriented and labiolingually compressed; preprotocrista connects continuously with anterior cingulum of tooth. |
