Taxonomy
Cribroperidinium was named by Neale and Sarjeant (1962). It is not extant. Its type is Cribroperidinium sepimentum.

It was assigned to Dinophyceae by Andrews (1970); and to Gonyaulacaceae by Neale and Sarjeant (1993).
