Taxonomy
Mastotermes picardi was named by Nel and Paicheler (1993). Its type specimen is MNHN IPM-R.54196, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Camoins-les-Bains (MNHN coll), which is in an Oligocene lacustrine marl in France.
