Taxonomy
Termes girardi was named by Giebel (1856). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (Halle collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Calotermes affinis by Hagen (1858); it was synonymized subjectively with Termes affinis by von Schlechtendal (1888); it was recombined as Electrotermes girardi by Emerson (1933), Snyder (1949), Weidner (1955), Emerson (1969), Nel and Paicheler (1993), Krishna et al. (2013).
