Taxonomy
Mesotermes incompletus was named by Ren (1995). Its type specimen is BL92201, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Chongqing Reservoir, west hills, Beijing, which is in an Aptian lacustrine mudstone in the Lushangfen Formation of China. It is the type species of Mesotermes, Mesotermopsis.
It was recombined as Mesotermopsis incompletus by Engel and Ren (2003); it was recombined as Mesotermopsis incompleta by Krishna et al. (2013).
