Taxonomy
Aiuruocatermes piovezanae was named by Martins-Neto and Pesenti (2006). Its type specimen is UGB UnG/IT-045, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Near Aiuruoca municipality, which is in a Rupelian lacustrine - large shale in the Entre-Córregos Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Aiuruocatermes.
